Frozen features one of Aotearoa’s most beloved birds the Huia, now extinct for over 120 years. I loved coming back to revisit painting this male Huia, based from drawings and photos from the taxidermied Huia birds in the local Museum in Huia, Waitakere. Breathing some life…creating some movement…some spark?
